CHOLSEY'S 2020 VISION
-- developing our Parish Plan for the future
Summer 2006 - Article for The Forty

As reported in the Spring Update, the Consultation Event held on our parish plan for the future in early April was a great success with over 300 visitors.  We also attracted another hundred or so people to our stall at the May Day celebrations.  We used the information gathered at these events and in earlier consultations to draw up a list of the main issues (both good and bad) facing Cholsey.  The result can be found on our web site at www.cholsey.org/parishplan.

The next stage is to distribute a questionnaire to all households in order to gather the views of all residents.  The idea is to collect the data that we need on some of these issues in order to be able to make a clear case to local authorities.  Where Cholsey residents express strong views for a particular course of action, our elected representatives will have to take note.

We were hoping to distribute the questionnaire in early July, but have now had to delay the activity until after the holidays.  The SODC have taken a belated interest in what we are doing and we have also received new advice from the Oxfordshire Rural Community Council (ORCC).  As one of our main objectives is to influence the decisions which SODC and others take on our behalf, we felt it was best to ensure that our questionnaire had their input and support before we proceeded.

So expect now to receive the questionnaire at the beginning of September.  An early draft version should be visible on our web site during July for those who are interested to see what we will be asking.  We look forward to a strong response from everybody in the parish.
