CHOLSEY'S 2020 VISION |
Consultation Event 8th/9th April 2006
Everyone had had very good feedback about the event. People were surprised at how much background work had been done, and were impressed with the displays. Barrie had analysed the attendance by demographics - 323 people had attended, 29 of whom were under 16 years old. Although there would be some double-counting, we had had 560 responses so far, between the first public meeting, the individual conultations and the event.
Geraldine explained about the slight confrontation she had had about ‘The Economy’, whereby a small number of people felt that we were using ‘leading information’. It was agreed that for the event we were trying to provoke some debate, but that for the Questionnaire it is essential to make sure that the questions are neutrally worded.
The website would have all the themes represented. Sue needed to let Geraldine have the Housing information. Everyone to let Geraldine have any comments on all the reports by 21st April 2006.
Next Steps
Barrie had prepared a short ‘flow chart’ to help us move ahead. Alan had also given some thought to the process issues we need to address in order to get the Questionnaire out and analysed within our timetable.
It was agreed that May Day was the opportunity to firm up on the Issues that we want in the questionnaire and in the eventual Plan. Everyone would let Geraldine have these by 24th April, so that she can collate a display for people to comment on at May Day (with assistance from Steve and Barrie). It was stressed as important to be realistic about what can be influenced by the Plan and to remove ‘wish-list items’ (like indoor swimming pools). It was agreed that we should work backwards from what we want the Plan to achieve. It was agreed that Geraldine will edit down the issues, if we have too many.
At May Day, we would not have another ‘sticky dots/post-its’ event, but we will have a Comments Box, so that people can let us know if we’re including the right issues.
Geraldine will contact all the new people who have filled out Volunteer Forms to enlist their help for May Day and to keep up their interest.
Geraldine confirmed that Anton Nath from ORCC can come to the 15th May meeting, to help us decide what to do next in terms of using consultants to conduct and analyse the survey, framing the questions, etc.
English Partnerships have not been in touch following the event, so we still have the display banners, which might be useful for May Day. Steve has scanned in all of the detailed responses (48) to the Fairmile questionnaires. He has also collated the responses using the headings from the consultation forms. These will be kept separate, so they can be anlysed separately if necessary.
Geraldine will bring the remaining Fairmile consultation leaflets to May Day.
Geraldine will contact David Ashworth at English Partnerships to see if they would like any specific questions addressed at May Day or in the Questionnaire, and if so, can they contribute towards the costs.
Process / questionnaire / housing needs survey
It was agreed that we should decide between what we can do ourselves, and what we need consultancy help with.
It was agreed that we can deliver, follow-up and collect the questionnaires to back-up the Freepost returns.
We will also need to analyse any ‘free text’ questions that we include.
We will need external help to design the questionnaire and frame the questions in support of the issues, enter the data and analyse it. Everyone was agreed that it is essential that the survey is seen as independent.
For the Housing Needs Survey, ORCC will produce the questionnaires, provide the Freepost envelopes, and do the independent analysis - all at the same time as the main questionnaire. We will do the delivery, follow-up and collection together withe main questionnaire.
Publicity / promotion
Barrie suggested that we should have some more posters to promote May Day, and also to promote the Website. The Forty Update will also be used for feedback and updating.
Any other business
Geraldine confirmed that the Laurence Hall had been charged at £54 for the week-end in the end.
James Butler, as Chair of the Pavilion Working Party, had asked if he could have any feedback from the event about the Pavilion. This was agreed.
Geraldine confirmed that the Winners of the Quiz were: Jo Salt (child); Therese Lewis; Gordon Harris. Jo had got the highest score!
Geraldine would contact all new volunteers to ask for their help with May Day and with the Questionnaires.
Next Meeting
This was agreed for the 2nd or 4th May (preference for 2nd) at 7.30 p.m. - date and venue to be confirmed by Geraldine.
Geraldine was thanked for her hospitality.
